Shannon joined the Morphum team in late 2022 and comes to us with over five years of experience working with ESRI’s GIS software and several years working with SAFE software.
She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg before moving to New Zealand to kick off her GIS career. She has a degree in Geography and Archaeology.
Shannon has a keen eye for automation techniques to help companies save time and money. She has experience in moving systems from desktop to the cloud to minimise the time people spend on repetitive work and maximise the outcome of complex tasks.
Shannon has always had a keen interest in caring for the natural world and wants all aspects of her life to reflect this, including her career. She believes GIS has the power to help organisations reduce their impact on the environment. Shannon was deeply involved with community projects back in South Africa where she helped set up a school in an impoverished community. She has spent a lot of free time in nature reserves removing snares and identifying invasive plant species.
Now that Shannon is a part of Morphum, she is thrilled to be around people who value being in Aotearoa as much as she does. Shannon also hopes to share her knowledge of FME with other members of the team.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family and exploring all the beautiful places New Zealand has to offer. On weekends you’ll find her on the beach, going for long walks, or heading away for the weekend to go camping with her friends and family.
