Since 2013, Morphum Environmental have been responsible for the compliance management of approximately 130 consented water abstraction and wastewater discharge consents associated with Auckland Council’s small water supplies and wastewater systems.
The sites are not serviced by Watercare (the Council-owned water and wastewater service provider), and are generally in rural or coastal areas of Auckland. These water and wastewater systems are often within regional parks and local sports parks and reserves, or are standalone sites such as community halls and toilet blocks.
Morphum Environmental were initially responsible for compilation of consent documentation and completing missing information required by consent conditions where it was not present. This included production of system management plans, as-built drawings and process schematics. Working across many similar consents allowed us to work with Auckland Councils compliance monitoring teams to clarify and amend inconsistent consent conditions where appropriate. Inconsistent conditions were largely due to changes in on-site wastewater treatment system technology and system performance knowledge over the lifetime of the resource consents. As new systems have been installed we have been able to develop appropriate consent conditions in partnership with the compliance team that are fit-for-purpose.
